Worship

“Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.”

Psalm 150:6

Worship at RMAC
 Statement on Worship Through Music

At RMAC, we recognize that we are a local expression of Christ’s church here in Rocky Mountain House. We take seriously our responsibility to gather as God’s people in corporate worship, lifting high the name of Jesus Christ.
Each Sunday, our worship leaders prayerfully select songs that complement the teaching of God’s Word for that week. To ensure that our worship remains faithful and Christ-centered, every song we sing is carefully evaluated using the following criteria:

  1. Are the lyrics biblically and doctrinally sound?
  2. Are the lyrics God-centered?
  3. Are the lyrics edifying and instructive?
  4. Are the lyrics clear and understandable?
  5. Do the lyrics engage both heart and mind?

With these criteria in place, along with the faithful expository preaching of God’s Word, we believe we are able to worship God in spirit and in truth while also discipling and shepherding those whom He brings into His family here at Rocky Alliance.
We also recognize that worship music has been the subject of much discussion and scrutiny in the broader church. One of the pressing questions of our time is whether churches should sing songs written, performed, or influenced by people whose doctrine or beliefs differ from ours. After prayerful consideration, we have concluded that attempting to vet every songwriter or ministry inevitably leads to disqualification, since all of us, as sinners, are imperfect, and our theology grows and matures over time as we follow Christ.
Instead of evaluating songs based on the people or ministries behind them, we choose to evaluate each song on its own merits using the criteria above. We believe this approach gives us the best opportunity to keep our eyes on Jesus, glorify Him with our worship, and avoid unnecessary division. We affirm that God, in His sovereignty, can use even the broken things of this world to bring glory to Himself, and for that we are deeply grateful.
For this reason, RMAC does not endorse any particular musician, artist, writer, or church simply because we sing one of their songs. Our sole desire is to lift our eyes and voices to Jesus Christ, giving Him all the praise and honor He is due.
Thank you for loving Christ and His church enough to care about these matters with us.

Statement on Worship Through Music

  Christ at the Centre
Worship is directed entirely toward Jesus, with a commitment to biblical faithfulness and honouring His name.
◉  Unity and Maturity
The goal is to foster sincere worship, avoid unnecessary division, and acknowledge that God uses imperfect people for His glory.
◉  Healthy Discernment
Songs are chosen for their lyrics and their alignment with God’s Word, not for the reputation or doctrinal background of their authors.
“God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”
John 4:24
